Portraying the whimsy, athleticism, and creativity of the canine species, The Art of Pup™ follows a Labrador Retriever living her life of adventure. Drawing on Hayward’s expertise in portrait, sports and nature photography, the series presents the Labrador against striking backdrops that range from Adirondack lakes to snow-laden pines to autumn leaves. Smaller segments of these settings, such as the white background of a snowy field, provide rich visual dynamics of contrast and interaction. The result is imagery of the canine form and the character that resides within that form that is rarely, if ever, seen.
